Highlands Center for Faculty Initiatives

 

*   Planning for the Conference on the Detection and Treatment of Child Sexual Abuse continues. Data base of registrants under development.  (~80 conference registrations have been received.) 

*   Met re:  Annual Meeting of the Pennsylvania State System Women’s Commissions (October 2003)

*   All-faculty survey re:  Research Colloquium was sent out.

*   Programming for American Education Week has been finalized. 

*   Developing final report for RAKE.

*   EUP Speaker’s Bureau has a direct link to the Scots Record.

*   HCFI web site modifications continue

*   Met with speakers for the 100+ Years of Teaching Program

*   The Center will celebrate American Education Week next week.

 

CETP-PA:

*   ~25 EUP CETP-PA team members attended a dinner meeting.  Mr. Vince Valicenti of ASSET, Inc. (Pittsburgh) presented information about the summer LASER conference.  Gannon University, the Millcreek School District and IU #5 sent representatives.

*   Notice was received that one of our Teaching Scholars (Jen Catherman) would not receive a scholarship next term – her last term.  The campus team adjusted the local budget to provide her with half of the scholarship ($1000) and will look for matching funds on campus.

*   Certificates for CETP-PA instructors of endorsed courses and CETP-PA graduates were finalized.  The President, Dean of Science, Managements and Technology and the Dean of Education have all agreed to sign the certificates.

 

EVE:

*   Fall 2003 Values Newsletter was sent to the editor for revisions.

*   Finalized plans for the 1st annual Character Education Conference.

*   Folders/Room Tags/Name Tags, etc. were prepared.

 

IIC:

*   Two members of the Institute met and generated a list of potential topics for the next event.  This list will be distributed to all Institute members and a program will be scheduled for late January/early February.

 

UTL:

*   Working on report for the New Faculty Resource Buffet.
