HCFI Weekly Review Nov. 1, 03

 

Highlands Center for Faculty Initiatives

 

*   Planning for the Conference on the Detection and Treatment of Child Sexual Abuse continues. Data base of registrants under development.  (~40 conference registrations have been received.)  Another 200 announcements were mailed.

*   Planning for the RAKE project finalized.  Fliers placed in downtown Edinboro businesses.  100 rakes borrowed from Allegheny College, 108 delivered from Hobb’s Do-It Center.  Faculty/staff donations of ~$300 (of $432required for the rakes) received.  Meeting between student team leaders and Tom Schruers (Borough staff) held on Monday.  Anticipate 200-600 student volunteers.

*   Planning meetings being arranged for First Year Faculty Experience, Researcher of the Year, American Education Week presenters.

*   New faculty members were treated to a free lunch - Halloween Treat Week – courtesy of Sodexho Dining Services.

*   Corrections made on the Scots Record website.

*   Work continues on updating/upgrading the HCFI website.

*   Met with Tim Cordell and Peg Bevevino to move discussions about long range planning for HCFI.

*   Duplicated 250 CDs for R. Omniewski

*   Working with UPIRCI to develop an all-faculty survey re:  Research Colloquium.

 

CETP-PA:

 

*   Invitation sent to all CETP-PA team members re: Dinner Meeting.  The invitation was also sent to all superintendents of regional school districts and science teachers/principals of schools who do not yet have a CETP-PA team member.

*   Database for EOS contributions constructed.

*   Planning meetings being arranged for the Evening of Science Activities, the LASER conference (a strategic planning workshop in Pittsburgh in July 2004) and the Math and Science Resource Center.

 

EVE:

*   Finalized plans for the Character Education Conference

*   Fall 2003 Values Newsletter is being finalized.

*   “Academic Integrity Statement” appears in the 2003-2004 Student Code of Conduct and Judicial Procedures.

 

IIC:

*   Meeting planned for November 13.

UTL:

*   Planning for the New Faculty Resources Buffet finalized.
